Does Insurance Cover my Lactation Consult?

In most cases, YES!

Depending on your insurance provider there will be little to no out of pocket cost.

In 2010 the Affordable Care Act was passed, requiring that all “new insurance plans  must provide breastfeeding support, counseling, and equipment for the duration of breastfeeding. These services may be provided before and after birth.” There are very few plans that were grandfathered in and are exempt from this.

Let’s see if we can get your visits covered!

Services

In-person Consult

Insurance Accepted

From the comfort of your own home or one of our offices, a consultant will address all of your breastfeeding and pumping questions or concerns. These visits usually last up to 90 minutes and allow us to go through a full feeding session including latching, bottle feeding, and pumping together. Your consultant will bring a special scale that allows up to weigh your baby before and after feeding to see how much milk your baby drinks from the breast.

*Office visit available in some cities. In some areas a travel fee may apply to home visits.

Our consultants are very skilled at observing feedings via secure video chat, identifying concerns, and offering solutions. Most breastfeeding and pumping concerns can be addressed virtually. In some cases, when scheduling your appointment we may suggest an in-person visit to best assist you.

Our lactation consultants tailor this hour education session to you and your feeding goals.
